Customer Thoughts on Buying a 5th Wheel

What It’s Actually Like Buying & Owning a Fifth Wheel
If you’ve been spending your evenings scrolling through our current stock, you probably already know that the space and luxury of a 5th wheel is in a different league compared to even the most luxurious caravan. But we also know what’s going through your head, because we hear it every single day.
“Is it going to be a nightmare on tight country lanes?” “Am I actually going to be warm enough when the weather gets cold?” “ Is a UK truck really up to the job?” "Can I find a UK campsite this will fit on?"

It’s totally normal to feel a bit of "analysis paralysis" at the early research stage. That’s why we’ve put this page together. We figured you'll hear enough sales patter from retailers and worry-mongering from socials, to not know what's-what. So, we asked a few customers to have a proper, unscripted chat about their journey. No fancy lighting, no sales scripts, just honest stories from people who were exactly where you are right now.
Honest Experiences
The videos below are from real owners who’ve been through the whole process. We told them to be frank, the good bits, the nervous bits, and everything in between.
Here’s the sort of stuff we’re chatting about:
Those First-Day Jitters Almost everyone admits they were "bricking it" the first time they had to tow their rig. You’ll hear them talk about how they got over that initial "oh God, it’s huge" feeling and why, weirdly enough, they now find it easier to tow and hitch than their old caravans.
The Learning Curve You’ll hear a lot of mentions of Paul, Avril, Ash, Dave and the rest of the gang. Our customers explain why our free 3-night stay on our own campsite is such a massive help. It’s a safe space to practice your reversing and get your head around towing, parking and siting without any pressure.
The Lifestyle Shift Whether they’ve gone full-time or just use it for epic summer tours, they talk about the reality of living in a fiver. From the useable showers to how the heating handles a UK winter, they give you the lowdown on what actually matters once you’re parked up.
Stress-less with CCRV
We know that buying an American RV is a massive commitment. That’s why we handle every aspect of preparation for the UK roads, provide IVA testing and documentation, offer plenty of advice when viewing units, provide support videos on our YouTube channel, make access to customer reviews easy, have a knowledgeable team able to show you how to use the features of our RVs, provide new owners with driver training and have a professional workshop where we can tailor the features of your RV and turn UK trucks in to 5th wheel towing machines.
If your truck needs air bags or you’re worried about your driving licence, we’ve seen it all before and we’ll tell you exactly what you need (and what you don't).
Grab a Cuppa and Have a Watch
Before you get back to the spec sheets and floor plans, forums and socials, take a few minutes to watch these stories. Listen to the people who’ve already made the leap. You’ll see that while the 5th wheel is a substantial piece of kit, the lifestyle it opens up is worth every bit of that initial nerves.
Remember, the kettle is always on at CCRV (provided you booked your viewing!), but for now, let our owners show you what it’s really like.
